SCC Students are inducted into Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society on Monday, March 10, 2008.

Phi Theta Kappa, International Honor Society of the Two-Year College, at SCC has received a paragon award from the international organization again this year for increasing our membership. Seventy-three students were inducted on Monday, March 10th, 2008, the largest number of students accepting membership, ever, in an academic year at SCC. The accomplishment earned the chapter one free registration to the International Convention in Philadelphia this April. Phi Theta Kappa looks forward to seven students participating in the International Convention. Two honorary members, Sandy Jones-Congleton and William Mays, were also inducted, for making a significant contribution to the success of the chapter.

To be eligible for membership into Phi Theta Kappa a student must be enrolled in an institution offering an associate degree program, must have completed at least 12 hours of coursework that may be applied to an associate degree, must generally have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, must receive an invitation to membership from the chapter at the college where presently enrolled and must adhere to the moral standards of the society.
